When Your Favorite Hobby Isn't Your Favorite Anymore

Have you ever fallen out of love with something you once couldn't imagine living without?

For me, that something was paper crafting. For years, it was my creative outlet, my happy place, a big part of my everyday life and my job! I loved creating cards, designing projects, learning new techniques, and sharing what I learned with others. It was something I genuinely enjoyed, and for a long time, I couldn't imagine not doing it.

But somewhere along the way, things began to change. I found myself spending less time creating and more time feeling like I should be creating. New products, new ideas, new projects, and all the things that once excited me started to feel more like commitments than fun.

I was almost afraid to ask but what if I just don't love this anymore? It's hard to admit that your feelings have changed, especially when it's something you've invested time, money, energy, and a little piece of yourself into, but I think we sometimes forget that we're allowed to change. It's ok to outgrow hobbies and discover new interests. We're allowed to close a chapter without feeling like we've failed or given something up.

Recently, I made the decision to step away from paper crafting. I also let go of some of the memberships and commitments that had become part of that world.

And honestly? It feels good.

Lately, I've found myself drawn to simpler things, like crocheting and yarn, spending time with family, and enjoying the little everyday moments. I love having a project in my hands without needing to turn it into something more.

No deadlines. No expectations. No pressure to keep up. Just doing something because I enjoy it.

So, maybe that's what this season of life is about, seeing what still brings me joy and giving myself permission to make room for more of it.

I don't regret the years I spent paper crafting. Not one bit. It brought me wonderful experiences, friendships, creativity, and opportunities I never would have imagined.

I'm simply ready for something different.

And maybe you are, too.
