I am in the age bracket where we start to try to forget how old we are. Remember when seven and half was really a big deal and that "half" was important! Now I am content to say I am over 40...to quote Kirstie Alley...way over! My Facebook Birthday was too cool! So many wonderful greetings from friends near and far! It was a huge cyber party!
Birthdays are a big deal in my family requiring a command gathering and of course eating. When I was growing up any excuse for a birthday cake ..even the cat's birthday.. was a good day. I heard a rumble this week that there was a dinner in the works. As you know I have 5 amazing now grown children and I am blessed that they all live within 20 minute drive from me. Yes, I know I am incredibly lucky! So I knew I did not have to think about dinner yesterday and I spent the day dooing ... actually nothing! One of my daughters took me to get a pedicure and when we returned dinner was in full prep. Family started to arrive and soon the house was buzzing to its pre empty nest humm. It was incredible to sit and watch them swing into full birthday party mode with food and drink and merry! Oh let there be magic in the merry! I know they are all busy with lives of their own but for a few hours life stood still and we all came together to celebrate lil ol me. The surprise came after the food before the cake (created of course by my own ace of cakes, Sara!) They had put together a huge video for me including old family videos and new, music and quotes. As we at sat around the living room watching, laughing and oh yes crying I was so moved at how incredibly lucky I am to have such an amazing family. They are truly over the top. Thank you, thank you one and all. I surely know I am loved and it is a wonderful life!
Here is my birthday present video...it is long and really all about my family but many of you asked so I thought I would share.
