Cricut Expression 101: What is it all about?

So you have your cool Cricut Expression.. have your mats.. a few cartridges (ok lots of cartridges!) and lots of cut scraps. You look at it ...you load your mat ...push a few buttons and then CUT. And this crazed machine cuts what it wants..where it wants. Not at all what you thought you wanted. I know.... it makes you crazy! I get it. Been there too! That is why Expression 101 was created. We go step by step through exactly what you need to do to make sure YOU are in Charge and the Cricut will cut what you want ...the size you want and where you want it to cut...everytime. No more struggling with the size dial, the pressure wheel, load unload...center point...flip??!! Fit to what? really these buttons all have a reason to be there and you will want to use them after this class. I am there ... right next to you on the couch (creepy huh?) helping you try this out. If you hit a wall...get frustrated...need me to say it one more time ....I am only an email away. And you will not wait days for me to get right back to you. My blackberry is always with me (I know it is an addiction but it works to your advantage in class!) and I will respond to you ASAP unless I am sleeping. We will cover Real Dial Size, Cutting Borders, All the function buttons, Fit to Page and Fit to Length, Deep Blades, understand all the cartridge features and create a layout or two. We have fun too!

Pssst...name the swarm contest

Ok Cricut friends...I need your help! You all know that I teach Cricut classes at My Creative Classroom and I offer my classes as Classes to Go  Welllllll it is 2010 and I am kicking off some terrific in person events too.  I have partnered with Susan from Croptopia Getaways and CRICUTS are coming to Croptopia!  All my classes...live and in person!  You can bring your Cricut and together we will bzzzz our way through projects in the comfort of a Croptopia event. 

Ok.... here is where you come in.  I need a fun name for these events.  I know ...you are thinking SWARM.  Well I could ...but that term freaks me out!  I am bug phobic (except for my littler green one) and the whole swarm concept makes me squirm!  I want a fun and warm fuzzy name that describes what we are doing.  So I am coming to you for suggestions...and I am willing to give away stuff too!  Post your suggestions here or email cara@caramiller.com between now and Monday morning at 8:00 am. I will choose one of you to receive a FREE seat in one of my online classes...your choice!

Cricut 101 Project

All these embellishments, photo mats, frames and titles are created with one 6x12 loaded on my basic Baby Bug Cricut mat! Really ...easy to follow instructions available in my Cricut 101 CD to Go as well as at My Creative Classroom 

Pssst... wanna to extend the life of your Cricut Mats?

... they do not want you to know this but... you can extend the life of your Cricut mats with a little soap and water! Mat has lost its stickiness? Paper slides around? Use a little soap and warm water and gently wash your mat and let it air dry. Do not dry with a towel or you will add lint and dust to your clean mat. Once dry, you are back in business. Many cricut users like to use baby wipes to "clean" their mats but I find that there is a chance of residue or moisture messing up the next paper I put on the mat. I like to use a lint roller...yes a lint roller...to clean my mats. Easy, no mess no fuss and you will be amazed at how much "lint" you will get off your mats. Remember to flip your mat around...use either end to feed into the Cricut first. And the simplest tip of all...keep the cat away from your Cricut mats...no seriously, make sure that you keep the clear cover clean and free from hair and lint and replace as soon as you are finished with the mat.

How Long are my Classes to GO?

Well...each CD contains 8-12 presentations (depending on the class) and each presentation is 10-12 minutes long. Each presentation is also printable as well as a shortcut two page printable version so you can take it with you. I hope that helps.
